The City of White House has a $12.4 million Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation loan to improve water infrastructure. The money will address the wastewater treatment system. The loan has a 20-year term at 0.91 percent interest.

The Tennessee man facing charges for his alleged role in unrest at the U.S. Capitol Building has no criminal history in Tennessee.  Eric Munchel was arrested by the FBI in Nashville on Sunday.  He’s charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.  The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said yesterday it didn’t do a criminal history check in other states or for the FBI investigation.

Flags on the Tennessee State Capitol Building are flying at half staff.  Governor Bill Lee ordered the flags lowered in honor of all Capitol police officers and law enforcement across the nation.  One U.S. Capitol Police Officer died from injuries suffered during last week’s violence while another later took his own life while off duty.  The flags will be at half staff until tomorrow.

Tennessee’s state parks are having a huge economic impact.  The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation says the parks had a nearly two-billion-dollar impact on the economy in 2020.  A record of nearly 35-million people visited Tennessee state parks last year.  Governor Bill Lee called Tennessee’s state parks a source of pride for Tennesseans and said they provide substantial economic activity in communities across the state.

The Charlotte Reeves Robertson Daughters of the American Revolution Chapter has some National DAR Society Scholarship opportunities.  They are in varying dollar amounts for different areas of study – for high school students going to college, and for graduate school and professional school programs. Interested students may check out information on the National DAR Society Scholarship website:  dar.org. Applications must be submitted through the online portal, and a verified transcript from the applicant’s current school must be included.  Applications will be accepted through January 31st.
