Robertson County residents at least 75-years-old are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.  Frontline healthcare workers and other first responders remain the top priority of the first phase of distribution.  However, earlier this week, health officials added age-based prioritization to their vaccine distribution plan.  The process will roll out in ten-year increments, with the next priority age group being 65 and up, then 55 and up, and so on.

Nearly six-thousand new cases of COVID-19 are being reported by the Tennessee Department of Health over the past 24 hours.  With yesterday’s update, another 93 fatal cases were reported across the state.  Now, more than 69-hundred Tennesseans have died from the virus since early March last year.  The state’s positivity rate, meanwhile, remains above 23-percent.  In Robertson County there have been 6,533 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. 5,644 have recovered, and 74 have died since the start of the pandemic.  

Montgomery County Animal Care and Control is temporarily closed due to rising COVID-19 cases in the county. Officials say the facility will be deep cleaned and will reopen Tuesday. Owner surrenders will not be accepted while the facility is closed to the public. In-person adoptions will not take place during this time, however, staff can help with adoptions over the phone. Strays may be brought to the facility, however, anyone dropping off a stray needs to call the shelter at 931-648-5750 upon arrival and wait in their car.

Montgomery County Courts say that all jury trials scheduled in January and February 2021 are suspended and will be reset.  Officials say that limiting access to the Courts Center is necessary to protect the public health.
