City leaders in White House agreed with residents last week when it came to approving a proposed chemical mixing plant, voting the measure down unanimously on first reading. As a result, the City will not be rezoning for a JSC Corrosion Technologies chemical mixing plant on the east side of Union Road.

The Springfield Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a man who allegedly robbed a local business early Tuesday morning. Investigators say the masked suspect entered Sudden Service located at 1001 Memorial Boulevard and demanded money from the cashier under the threat of violence. The suspect then took the money and fled on foot towards Central Avenue. There are security photos on social media. Contact the Springfield Police Department if you think you can ID the suspect.

A Coopertown Police Officer is recovering at an area hospital with minor injuries.  They were caused by work-related two-vehicle traffic accident just before noon Tuesday morning on Hwy 49 and Golf Course Ln in Cheatham County. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured. The Officer received medical care by Cheatham County EMS and was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and is listed is in stable condition.

Governor Bill Lee is calling a special legislative session early next year to address educational challenges at state schools due to the pandemic. The five main talking points will be learning, funding, accountability, literacy, and teacher pay.  Preliminary reports estimate a 50-percent decrease in proficiency rates in 3rd grade reading and a projected 65-percent decrease in math proficiency.  Lee noted on Tuesday that the legislature will meet at the Capitol January 19th.

Local and federal law enforcement are raising concerns over the vulnerability of the communication infrastructure in the state after the Christmas Day bombing caused severe damage to it, knocking out 911 dispatch across multiple states.
