This is the last day Robertson County voters who wish to vote absentee can request a ballot. You can download and print the form at sos-tn.gov. More than 184-thousand-500 absentee ballots have been returned by Tennessee voters so far.  Just over 64-thousand absentee ballots were cast for the entire 2016 presidential election in Tennessee.  Absentee ballots must be received by the close of polls on Election Day, Tuesday, November 3rd.

The City of Springfield and the Robertson County Health Department are opening a new basketball court at J. Travis Price Park. It is part of a Tennessee Department of Health initiative to increase opportunities for healthy, active lifestyles by funding fitness projects in 89 rural counties. The project will feature the court and amenities, including benches and a trash receptacle.

Tennessee’s U.S. Senators say they’re proud to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Barrett was confirmed by the Senate last night.  Junior Senator Marsha Blackburn called Barrett “an eminently qualified constitutionalist” who will serve the nation well, while Lamar Alexander said Barrett demonstrates all the characteristics he looks for in a judge.  Barrett got her under-grad degree from Rhodes College in Memphis.

State Senator Kerry Roberts remains in intensive care following a brain hemorrhage he experienced on October 9th. Although he continues to be at risk for a stroke requiring careful monitoring, if he continues to improve. he is expected to be released as early as next week. His medical team continues to anticipate a full and complete recovery.

 The Stokes Brown Public Library is getting a grant of state and federal funds to make some technology upgrades.   $3,000 will be used to improve access to Technology for the library and its visitors and $1,000 will go toward the protective equipment needed to reopen the library safely as well as videoconferencing equipment. By the way the library will be having a Drive-thru Trick or Treating coming up on Oct 29th from 5:30-7:30.
