A record number of COVID-19 related hospitalizations are being reported across the state.  The Tennessee Department of Health reported yesterday that one-thousand-188 patients are battling the virus in Tennessee hospitals.  It’s at least the second time in less than a week the state has hit a new high for coronavirus-related hospitalizations.  Data released last Thursday showed one-thousand-168 COVID hospitalizations.

Governor Bill Lee is extending an executive order over mask mandates.  The order extended through the end of the year allows mayors in 89 of Tennessee’s 95 counties to decide if masks should be worn in public in their respective counties.  Governor Lee is expected to sign the extension on October 30th.  It does not apply to Davidson, Hamilton, Knox, Madison, Shelby or Sullivan counties which all have their own health departments.

This year’s Springfield Christmas Parade, slated for Nov. 21, will become the city’s first-ever to be held as an evening event.
