This year’s Springfield Christmas Parade, slated for Nov. 21, will become the city’s first-ever to be held as an evening event. Plus, attendees will see the Robertson County Christmas tree light up that night — rather than in December — when Volunteer of the Year, Laura Crawford of Lola Bean Coffee, flips on the switch as Santa makes his way by the courthouse during the parade.

United Ministries Food Bank of Robertson County will hold a drive-thru Food Pantry located behind Springfield Baptist Church on Friday, October 30th. The hours are 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM or until all the food  has been given away.

The Springfield Police Department is looking for help in identifying a suspect in an aggravated robbery.  Thursday night a suspect armed with what looked like a pipe, entered Daniel’s Market on Memorial Boulevard and allegedly assaulted the store employee and took the cash register drawer. You can find pictures and more details on social media. Call Springfield police if you can ID the suspect.

A fallen Hendersonville police officer is being remembered.  A plaque honoring Officer Spencer Bristol on the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office’s fallen officer memorial wall was unveiled on Friday.  Officer Bristol was killed last December when he was hit by a car while chasing a suspected speeder.  The plaque was paid for by a young girl who earned the money with a summer job.

A celebrity country music auction is raising money for everyday industry workers suffering financially during the coronavirus outbreak.  Among the items being auctioned off by Christie’s are a Gibson guitar Taylor Swift played for the live debut performance of her new song “Betty.”  A dulcimer owned by Dolly Parton is also up for auction.  The ACM Lifting Lives auction runs through Thursday, October 29th.
