A 2-year-old girl is in Vanderbilt Hospital after she was hit by a car Tuesday Beechwood Dr in Springfield. Witnesses say the child was awake and talking after the accident and her injuries don’t appear to be life threatening. Springfield police are investigating.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported one-thousand-676 new cases of COVID-19  yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over 205 thousand.  Two dozen additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported.  There have been more than 26-hundred deaths attributed to the coronavirus in Tennessee since the outbreak began. Robertson County has had 2,305 cases since the start of the outbreak, 2,182 have recovered and 38 have died from COVID-19 in Robertson County.

The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with Walmart of Springfield to bring free, family-friendly movies to two Springfield parks. It’s part of the new series the city of Springfield is calling, Free Movie Fridays. The October movie will be The Addams Family. It will be shown on the 16th at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. Concessions will be on site. Bring your bug spray, lounge chairs, and blanket. The movie will be on the soccer field.

Governor Bill Lee says the state won’t have another coronavirus-caused shutdown.  Speaking from outside the state Capitol building yesterday, Governor Lee said he doesn’t ever want to shut down the economy again.  Lee said more is known about the virus now than in March, and the livelihoods of Tennesseans are at stake.  However, he added nothing is off the table.

The Tennessee Titans are hoping to be allowed into their practice facility today.  The hope comes after two consecutive days without a new coronavirus infection within the organization.  Head coach Mike Vrable said yesterday that even if the team does have a normal work week, he doesn’t expect any of the nine infected players to be available for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.  Vrabel also said he doesn’t expect to have trouble putting 48 healthy players on the field at Nissan Stadium this weekend.
