The Robertson County Mask mandate ended
just for midnight. In addition, the City of
Springfield has announced masks will no longer
be required inside City Hall starting today
following the expiration of Robertson County’s
mask mandate. Mask requirements by business
must still be respected and County residents are
encouraged to continue washing their hands
and maintain a safe social distance.
The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office says a
fatal triple-shooting on Tuesday appears to be a
murder-suicide. Officials say they believe 51-
year-old Joseph Scott Green shot his
stepmother, 62-year-old Sherry Green, and his
father, 74-year-old Joseph Matthew Green,
before turning the gun on himself. Neighbors
told detectives the family had been having
domestic issues before the shooting. The
Sheriff’s Office says they are still investigating
the incident.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported
one-thousand-528 new COVID-19 cases
yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak
began to over 196-thousand. A few additional
COVID-19-related deaths were also reported.
There have been over 24-hundred deaths
attributed to the coronavirus in Tennessee since
the outbreak began. Robertson County has had
2,255 cases since the start of the outbreak,
2,124 have recovered and 39 have died from
COVID-19 in Robertson County.
The state has relaxed restrictions on nursing
homes and other long-term care facilities. The
new protocols will be based on the transmission
rate of coronavirus within each facility.
Tennessee Health Commission officials say that
the health and safety of vulnerable Tennesseans
remains a top priority. However, they add that
it’s time to reunite long-term care residents
with their families.
Looking for a job? FedEx is hiring for the
holidays. The shipping giant says it’s adding
over 70-thousand positions to help with the
holiday season. FedEx officials say they believe
this holiday season will be the company’s
busiest yet. They say they believe shoppers will
spend more money than ever online this year.
The NASCAR Cup Series is returning to the
Mid-State for the first time in a decade. The
race is scheduled for Nashville Superspeedway
on Father’s Day of 2021. Tickets for the race are
expected to go on sale next month.
Macy’s is hiring thousands of employees for the
holiday season at its Portland fulfillment center.
The company today says it’s looking for several
thousand full-time and part-time employees.
Macy’s is holding a hiring event on October 6th
at the fulfillment center on Vaughn Parkway in
Portland.
A Millersville police officer has been fired over
what officials are saying were inappropriate
social media posts concerning a planned protest
against the city’s police department. The
Thurssay protest was widely publicized through
social media and City officials said one of their
own – Police Officer Robert “Bobby” Black –
may have helped to instigate the gathering,
which forced them to use taxpayer monies to
control a crowd of unknown size. This is the
second incidence in recent months that a law
enforcement officer in Robertson County has
been reprimanded for social media posts.
