A proposed development is set to go before the County this week. Thursday, the Planning and Zoning Commission will decide on the proposed rezoning of 103 acres for a 169- home development in Cedar Hill. Cedar Hill’s Vice Mayor John Edwards has led the effort against the rezoning saying a lot of folks are opposed to it for the traffic problems it will create.
Tennessee is celebrating 225 years of statehood. Tennessee became a state on June 1st 1796. Governor Bill Lee says the state will hold a year-long celebration called “Untold Tennessee” with events scheduled in all 95 counties. Governor Lee says he hopes Tennesseans will attend to share their untold stories of places, events and Tennesseans, who he called “the portrait of perseverance, character and hope.”
Yesterday marked the beginning of the 100 deadliest days on Tennessee highways. This includes Memorial Day, the 4th of July and Labor Day weekends which is a period of time when deadly crashes especially involving teen drivers rise. Statistics from the Tennessee Highway Patrol reveal 57 young people have been killed already this year on Tennessee roads.
Tennessee musicians are participating in a new national tradition. They played Taps yesterday afternoon on Memorial Day. The tradition started last year when many Memorial Day celebrations were canceled over coronavirus concerns. Horn players across Tennessee say they hope to make this an annual tradition long after the coronavirus outbreak is over.

Jury selection starts today in the murder trial of Joseph Daniels. The Dickson County man is charged with killing his five-year-old son, Joe Clyde Daniels. Jury selection will take place in Chattanooga. Once selected, jurors will be bused to Charlotte and sequestered during the trial. Joe Clyde’s body has never been found after he disappeared in April of 2018.
Officials said rescuers have found the remains of seven people aboard a small plane that crashed into a Tennessee lake over the weekend.Rutherford County said in a statement Monday officials had discovered more human remains in Percy Priest Lake near Nashville, where a Cessna Citation 501 with seven people on board crashed after takeoff from Smyrna airport before 11 a.m. Saturday.Officials said human remains had been found on Sunday and that dive teams would continue the search.
