After being COVID Cancelled last year, Springfield’s 1st Friday Night Market is back June 4th.  The free event, hosted by the Historic Springfield Event Coordinators in partnership with the City of Springfield’s Parks and Recreation Department, will kick off at 6 p.m. and run through 9 p.m. The June market is the first of 2021, as the event with nearly 60 vendors will continue through September, on the first Friday night monthly.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency [[ TWRA ]] is identifying the victims of the Cumberland River houseboat explosion as David and Cristal Bergrenn.  The Wildlife Agency says the couple was thrown from the boat by the explosion on Sunday afternoon.  There are reports the Bergrenn’s had just fueled the boat.  Cristal was rushed to Tennova Medical Center where she died from her injuries.  David Berggren remains hospitalized.  The TWRA is leading the investigation.

The Robertson County School district has released the 2021-2022 supply lists for K-8. These lists will help make sure your child is prepared for next year’s school season with all the necessary items required. Go to the Robertson County School’s website then find your child’s school. Once there, you can download your child’s school supply list.

 The Grand Ole Opry is hiring.  A job fair will be held today from 2 o’clock in the afternoon until 6 at the Grand Ole Opry.  Full and part-time employees are needed now that the legendary music venue has reopened to full-capacity crowds.

The teaching of topics like systemic racism and white privilege is now banned in Tennessee public schools.  Governor Bill Lee today signed a bill banning critical race theory from being taught to students.  Schools run the risk of having funding withheld if they teach about those topics.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is launching a program called Tennessee Kid Kits.  The Kid Kits are a resource to help parents document details about their children in case of an emergency.  Police say in the case of missing children every second counts and having detailed information on hand will help authorities move quickly.  It helps parents as well because it’s easy to be overcome with emotion and forget important details when your child is missing.
