A suspect is in custody and an investigation continues into the death of a man at the Salvation Army on Kraft Street In Clarksville. The suspect is identified as Corey Allen from Sevierville. He and the victim both stayed at the Salvation Army on Saturday night and the homicide happened on Sunday. The identity of the victim has not been released.
The possibility for severe weather is expected to continue today. Many parts of the Mid-State spent last night and earlier this morning under thunderstorm warnings. The National Weather Service says the main threat is from wind and hail. However, forecasters say a few tornadoes are possible.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” the week of May 7th from 11:00 PM – 1:00 AM on US Highway 41 at the Greenbrier City Limits and Lights Chapel Road area in Robertson County. There will also be a “Safety Belt Checkpoint” the week of June 11th from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on US Highway 31W at the intersection with New Hall Road in Robertson and Sumner Counties.
The Department of Revenue is making it easier to apply for a personalized license plate. Residents can go online or use the Tennessee mobile app to choose from dozens of license plate designs and then add the numbers and letters they want. The app can be downloaded for Android or Apple at My TN-dot-gov.
The Greenbrier High School class of 2021 will be honored Tuesday, May 18th from 6:30-8 pm with a “Senior Parade” hosted by Veterans Motorplex at the Rim. Seniors will be standing in the infield of the track in their caps and gowns while, parents, friends, and family can drive one lap around the track to honor them.
Officer-involved shootings are on the rise in Tennessee. They have increased every year but one since 2015. There were 30 such shootings in Tennessee in 2015 and more than 50 last year. So far this year, there have been 20 officer-involved shootings in Tennessee.
