The attached garage behind a Greenbrier home became a fireball last night and investigators think a neighbor’s doghouse was the trigger. At this stage if the investigation, it appears that an electrical cord for a heat source ignited the doghouse which in turn ignited the fence between the two homes. From there, investigators believe the fire leaped from the fence to the neighbor’s garage.  The garage has been classified as a total loss and the home suffered minor damage to its facade. No injuries were reported.

The National Weather Service in Nashville is warning of severe storms.  The NWS says some severe storms are possible tonight across parts of Middle Tennessee.  Forecasters say damaging wind, large hail and a couple of tornadoes are possible.  Another round of severe storms is possible tomorrow across the Mid State.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” the week of May 7th from 11:00 PM – 1:00 AM on US Highway 41 at the Greenbrier City Limits and Lights Chapel Road area in Robertson County. There will also be a “Safety Belt Checkpoint” the week of June 11th from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on US Highway 31W at the intersection with New Hall Road in Robertson and Sumner Counties.

The Greenbrier High School class of 2021 will be honored Tuesday, May 18th from 6:30-8 pm with a “Senior Parade” hosted by Veterans Motorplex at the Rim.  Seniors will be standing in the infield of the track in their caps and gowns while, parents, friends, and family can drive one lap around the track to honor them.

The TBI is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Nashville.  A man was shot and killed in a wooded area on Saturday night after his mother called police saying he could be suicidal and had threatened to hurt people in the area.  The man was shot after hours of negotiations.  It’s the fifth shooting involving a Metro Nashville police officer this year.
