Tomorrow is opening day for the Robertson County Farmers Market.  It will be open on Saturdays from 8am until Noon throughout the Spring and Summer at the Fairgrounds. The season finale will be August 28th.

Summer is the time for local car shows but one will be getting a jump on the season tomorrow. It’s the 4th Annual Car Show and Youth Softball Fundraiser at Stewart Williams Furniture on Memorial Blvd. Registration is from 8.00 AM – NOON with Awards Presented at 2 PM.  ALL Proceeds go to our Youth softball team NASHVILLE CRUISERS PREMIER.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a “Sobriety Checkpoint” the week of May 7th from 11:00 PM – 1:00 AM on US Highway 41 at the Greenbrier City Limits and Lights Chapel Road area in Robertson County. There will also be a “Safety Belt Checkpoint” the week of June 11th from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on US Highway 31W at the intersection with New Hall Road in Robertson and Sumner Counties.

New unemployment claims are down but continued claims are up in Tennessee for the week ending April 24th.  The Department of Labor released data showing just over 87-hundred new claims filed statewide last week.  That’s about 46-hundred fewer than the week before and is the lowest number in a month.  Continued claims increased by about five-thousand, rising from 46-thousand to 51-thousand.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation is using Work Zone Awareness Week to ask drivers to slow down and move over.  Nearly two-dozen people were killed in work-zone crashes last year.  TDOT has lost 112 employees while on duty, but 70 percent of those killed in work-zone crashes aren’t workers.
