The 111 5th Avenue building in downtown Springfield has been restored and will open this summer. The reconstruction project began in early 2020, and the significant repairs include border repairs, new windows  , brickwork and painting. The 111 5th Avenue building is planned to have four offices upstairs and two units downstairs. The whole property is about 2,800 square feet. 

Local Firefighters saved a two-story apartment building in downtown Greenbrier Sunday afternoon.  Ridgewood Apartments, is on Hwy 41 between Greenbrier and Ridgetop behind the Deerfield Inn Suites. Greenbrier Fire Chief Kyle Hamill says the fire started in an upper second-floor unit. When firefighters arrived, flames were shooting out of a second-floor window.

The Tennessee Department of Health is clearing the way for the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to be used across the state again.  TDH made the announcement on Friday, after the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted to recommend to the CDC that use of the vaccine may resume.  The recommendation was made after reviewing cases of rare but serious blood clots in some people who received the vaccine.

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are the headliner for this year’s Great Tennessee Air Show.  Other featured performers will include the U.S. Special Operations Command Parachute Team, and the Quicksilver P51 Mustang.  Organizers say this year’s show will be socially distanced featuring premium seating, boxes and free parking.  It’s set for June 5th and 6th at Smyrna Airport.

Some Mid-State high school cheerleaders are champions.  Hendersonville High School’s cheer team won first place for the Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championships.  They competed in the Small Varsity Non-tumble Game Day Division and Small Varsity Traditional Division.  The competition aired on Varsity TV on Friday.
