A 57-year-old man was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville in stable condition after he was struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in Springfield, according to Robertson County EMS. The crash occurred on Memorial Blvd in front of Krystal around 9:30 pm.
Coopertown Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) to promote “Hands-Free Tennessee” during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Throughout the month of April, Coopertown Police Department will increase education and enforcement to reduce distracted-driving crashes, injuries, and fatalities.
The City of Springfield will conduct its first of two planned city-wide junk collection pickups for 2021 beginning Thursday, April 1 through Friday, April 30. The City of Springfield provides residents living within the city limits of Springfield junk collection pickup twice per year for larger items that cannot be disposed of with household trash; such as mattresses, furniture, etc. This service is provided in addition to, not a replacement of, resident’s household and brush collection.

The Robertson County Health Department is offering Free COVID-19 vaccinations for Farmworkers. For groups of 6 or more, the Health Department will come to your farm to administer the shots. Anyone 16 and older will qualify for the free vaccination with no ID required. When farmworkers receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, the nurses will give them the date when they will be back to the farm for the second dose.
Tennessee is nearly last in the nation when it comes to COVID-19 vaccination rates among adults. CDC data shows Tennessee is 48th among the 50 states in percentage of adults who are fully vaccinated. Tennessee is also 48th in the percentage of adults who have received at least one dose. Just over 23 percent of Tennessee’s adults have been fully vaccinated, ahead of only Georgia and Alabama.
As part of the Cumberland River Compact’s annual Earth Month celebration, 15 volunteers went to the Red River in Adams last weekend to remove tires and trash from land along the Red River. More than a ton of debris was removed including 65 tires that will be recycled through a partnership with Bridgestone Americas tire recycling program..
You’re invited to participate in Springfield’s Community Cleanup on Saturday, April 24th, from 9 a.m. to noon at various locations throughout the city. The Tennessee Valley Authority will provide all volunteer supplies including safety vests, bags, and gloves along with water to stay hydrated. Volunteering is easy and online at springfieldtn.gov.
