You’re invited to participate in Springfield’s Community Cleanup on Saturday, April 24th, from 9 a.m. to noon at various locations throughout the city. The Tennessee Valley Authority will provide all volunteer supplies including safety vests, bags, and gloves along with water to stay hydrated. Volunteering is easy and online at springfieldtn.gov.
The Springfield public works department has launched a new Adopt-A-Street Program. Volunteers agree to adopt one-mile segments of a major or collector street and remove litter a minimum of four times per year for at least one year. In recognition of the litter removal efforts, the city will install a sign recognizing participants for their commitment to the program and community
Tennessee’s constitutional carry bill will go into effect on July 1st. Governor Bill Lee signed the permitless carry bill yesterday. It will allow military members ages 18-to-20, and adults 20 and older to carry open or concealed handguns without a permit. Gun owners currently have to take a training course before they’re allowed to carry a handgun.
It seems Tennesseans are itching to travel after more than a year of coronavirus restrictions. A new Triple-A survey says nearly half of Tennesseans are comfortable with the idea of going somewhere for a getaway. That’s up ten percent from when the same survey was done in January. The most common reasons cited for the increase are vaccinations and confidence in safety measures and how they’re being implemented.
There’s a new sensory room at Nissan Stadium. Overstimulation and noise, something found in abundance at a major sports venue, is often a barrier to those affected by certain conditions The room will accommodate Tennessee Titans fans with sensory needs. The Isbell-Shires Kulture City sensory room is sponsored by music artists and husband and wife Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires. It’s the first sensory room in any of Nashville’s sports venues.
