Barry Baker, Supervisor of Career and Technical Education at Robertson County Schools, was killed in a 2008 traffic accident on Tom Austin Highway, just outside of Springfield. One of his students, real-estate developer, and 2004 ERHS graduate, Caleb Fuqua, recently memorialized Baker in one of Robertson County’s newest subdivisions by naming a street in his honor. Fuqua said Baker pushed him to do better. And called him a man of character.

Robertson County Schools is offering parents of pre-k students assistance in the application process for the 2021-22 school year. To get help go to Bransford Elementary Wednesday, April 7 or Tuesday, April 20th from 4:00 – 6:00; Friday, April 23rd from 8:30 – 11:30 or Wednesday, May 5th from 4:00 – 6:00. Only a parent or legal guardian may register a child.
When all the data is finalized, 2020 is expected to be Tennessee’s deadliest year for drug overdoses. A new report from the Office of Informatics and Analytics says 2020’s deadly overdoses are expected to greatly exceed those of 2019. Estimates from January-to-September 2020 had already surpassed the total number for all of 2019. Over two-thousand Tennesseans were lost to drug overdoses in 2019.
Tennessee families will soon be able to apply for reimbursement to cover COVID-19 funeral related expenses. The Federal Emergency Management Agency said today it will provide up to nine-thousand-dollars per funeral. Over eleven-thousand Tennessee families are currently eligible and FEMA will begin accepting 2020 reimbursement applications in April. More information is available at FEMA-dot-gov.
