One person is dead following a tree trimming accident involving electrical lines in Robertson County Saturday afternoon. 36-year-old Joshua Singletary of Hendersonville had been electrocuted by live power lines while trimming trees at a home Cottontown. Co-workers on the other side of the home heard the accident and came running to his aid. Singletary was already receiving CPR when the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene.
Beginning with the 2021-2022 school year, the Innovation Academy start transitioning a 6-12 STEAM Magnet School. With the renovation completion at Coopertown Elementary School, 4th & 5th grade students that are currently attending Coopertown Middle School will return to Coopertown Elementary. Incoming Springfield Middle School 6th grade students will be rezoned to other district school sites and will attend their new school beginning in August, 2021. A rezoning proposal was presented to the Board of Education on March 8, 2021 for their consideration. Public comment will be received during a series of public hearings.
Wilson County Schools are closed today. The district announced yesterday it’s closing due to hazardous road conditions caused by this weekend’s flooding. However, the district says that Kids Club activities will remain open
According to CDC vaccination tracking statistics, Tennessee ranks in the country’s bottom five states for administering vaccines. On Thursday, President Biden announced he was doubling his goal of vaccinating Americans within the first 100-days of his administration to 200-million people. The CDC says more than 133 -million vaccines have been administered so far in the U.S., with New Mexico leading the country with 21 percent of its population fully vaccinated. Tennessee ranks number 47, with only 12 percent fully vaccinated.
A $15 million plan to build a new elementary school in White House has received approval from the Sumner County Education and Budget committees. Director of Schools Dr. Del Phillips pointed to residential growth in White House as the need to build another school on land already owned by the county. The new building would be around 50,000-square-feet and room for 600 students
