Robertson County Residents should feel a little safer this weekend. The Tennessee Department of Correction launched its annual Operation Blackout earlier this month, enforcing special restrictions on sex offenders. Among the restrictions, sex offenders can’t have Halloween decorations, can’t hand out candy and aren’t allowed to have their porch lights on Halloween night. State law enforcement is encouraging parents to check the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry before kids go out trick-or-treating.
Motorists and sexual pedators aren’t the only Halloween dangers. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is issuing a warning over coyotes. TWRA says coyotes are out looking for food ahead of winter and young ones are leaving their families to establish their own territories. TWRA agents say coyotes are common in Tennessee and may be seen around homes even in urban areas. They say coyotes can be a threat to pets, especially small ones.
