The Springfield Board of Mayor & Alderman discussed and approved a new ordinance removing a lot size restriction for event housed in the historic district of Springfield. Right now only two lots in the historic district meet a 20,000 square foot requirement, and there is only one event house currently in the historic district, The Carousel House.
Three members of a Robertson County family are recovering after being attacked in their home by a man with a knife. Police confirmed yesterday that 23-year-old Austin Swanson was arrested for allegedly stabbing Jerry and Tammy Stradtner and their pregnant daughter Tamalee on Monday night. The Stradtner’s son, Justin, fought Swanson off and held him down until authorities arrived. Officials say Swanson had recently moved into a house down the road, and they are not sure of a motive for the attack.
There are over 12-hundred new coronavirus cases in Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Health reported the new cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over one-million-277-thousand-500. Over 50 additional COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, with the total number standing at nearly 16-thousand-300. Over eleven-hundred COVID-19 hospitalizations in Tennessee.
The city of Adams, famous for its Bell Witch legend, will be holding their first ever Fall Fest this weekend. It will Friday October 29 from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday October 30 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission for the festival is free but donations will be accepted to help fund future community events. The festival will be held at the Bell School and Omer Gene Brooksher Pavilion.
The United States Postal Service is preparing for the holiday season. USPS says it will be holding job fairs this week in Nashville, including a virtual job fair this afternoon from 2:30 to 3:30. An in-person job fair will be held tomorrow from 9 o’clock in the morning to 1 in the afternoon at the Nashville Processing and Distribution Center.
