Remember that it’s time to dump your junk.  The second of two planned citywide junk collection pickups for 2021 is underway in f Springfield and runs through Friday, Oct. 29. This service is provided in addition to, and not a replacement of, a resident’s household and brush collection and can get rid of items that cannot be disposed of with household trash, such as mattresses, furniture, and other larger items.

Gasoline prices in Tennessee are rising along with the rest of the country, according to Triple A — The Auto Club.  It’s the first time in seven years the price has risen above three dollars.  Analysts with Triple A blame the rise on crude oil prices.  They also say last week’s decision by OPEC not to increase production added to the rise.

A study by the financial services website WalletHub ranks Tennessee low when it comes to energy efficiency.  According to the study, Tennessee is among the top five states for being least energy efficient.  The study looked at data regarding auto and home energy efficiency.  It concluded Americans on average spend about two-thousand dollars on utilities and another 15-hundred-68-dollars on motor fuel and oil.

A private investigator who has worked high profile missing persons cases is returning Tennessee to look for Joe Clyde Daniels.  David Marshburn joined searchers looking for the five-year-old in 2018 and is returning now that the case has gone cold.  Marshburn says he’s coming with new leads and his cadaver dog and has been corresponding with the boy’s father Joseph Daniels.  Joseph Daniels has been convicted of the young boy’s murder.

State agriculture officials say there’s no shortage of pumpkins in Tennessee, despite a shortage reported nationwide.  Farmers across the state report better crops than average this year.  Grocery stores also report no shortage of canned pumpkins for holiday treats.  Farmers on the West Coast, on the other hand, are suffering through drought conditions that are resulting in fewer varieties and smaller yields.
