Possumstock is returning to Ashland City.  After postponing last year’s event because of COVID-19 the music festival is back on the schedule for August 20th and 21st at Pope Farms.  This is the seventh year for the festival, which features musicians and artists from Clarksville and surrounding communities. 

The state wants parents to decide whether wearing a mask is right for their students while at school.  Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton said yesterday he’ll ask the governor to call a special session if schools issue mask mandates.  Sexton called closing schools “unacceptable.”  The Republican lawmaker said the focus should be put on keeping students in school and boosting their test scores.

Events leading up to the 2021 Robertso County Fair have been scheduled.  The annual Fairest of the Fair & Baby Show will kick off the fair season on August 14th followed by the PPL Tractor Pull set for Saturday, Sept 4th at the Robertson County Fairgrounds. The annual Fair parade will start the fair week Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 5pm. The parade will proceed down Memorial Blvd to the Fairgrounds. New this year, all parade entries must have an application submitted prior to lining up for the parade.

The Robertson County Museum & Historical Society will be hosting The Last Days of Frank & Jesse James Festival on Saturday, August 14th on the Courthouse Square in Springfield, Itwill include a reenactment of a bank robbery with a shootout, live music, a Pioneer Village with blacksmiths & artisan crafts such as basket weaving, soap making, woodworking, loom weaving, kidszone and sewing plus food trucks, fun activities for families, plus screenings of the movie The Last Days of Frank & Jesse James throughout the day. The movie, which starred Johnny Cash, Kris Kristopherson, and Willie Nelson, contains scenes filmed in and around the Robertson County Courthouse in 1985.
