Two people have been critically injured after being involved in a crash involving a deer, according to Sumner County authorities. A Sumner County EMS official says a deer went through the windshield of a car in a collision on N Broadway. Two people were transported to an area trauma center in critical condition.
A new school board member lost his fight to punish a teacher over what she said about him on social media. Wilson County’s director of schools closed the case at the end of October. In July, newly elected school board member, Greg Hohman, filed an unusual ethics complaint against Green Hill High School teacher Janie Johnson. According to the complaint, Johnson posted that she overheard Hohman yelling at a teacher during a parent-teacher conference. Wilson County Schools said the matter is now considered closed
The Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) is searching for a brazen burglar who cut a hole in the roof of the Lanes Trains and Automobiles business and then rappelled down a rope to steal money from an ATM. Police say the burglary occurred at the Butler Drive location on Sunday just before 3 am. The break-in was discovered by an employee the next morning. The burglar broke into an ATM and game card recharging machine, making way with around $1,500. Anybody with any information should call Murfreesboro police.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is issuing a recall of one brand of space heaters. The heaters are from the brands Govee and GoveeLife and are sold online at Amazon and TikTok. The U.S. is recalling 512,500 of these heaters. The Canadian government is also recalling 48,600 units. There have been 113 reports of these space heaters overheating, including seven reports of fires and one report of a burn injury. The commission urges customers to stop using them and contact the brands for a refund. Customers are asked to unplug it, cut the power cord, and send an image of the deactivated heater, along with the manufacturer’s label and SN code to recall.goveelife.com.
