A man was arrested Sunday after a neighbor reportedly found her dog — who later died — with a gunshot wound outside of his Sumner County home. The woman said the dog had left the fence a while back and went to neighbor William Pate’s home. Pate allegedly sent the woman hostile messages over social media following that incident. Pate was arrested for aggravated animal cruelty. His pre-trial bond was set at $2,000, and his court date is set for Nov. 19.
The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security reminds residents that they have six months until the deadline to get a REAL ID. REAL IDs began being issued back in July 2019. The state department reports that a REAL ID will be required (or another federally issued photo ID, such as a passport) to enter certain federal buildings, military bases, and nuclear power plants or board commercial flights within the U.S. starting May 7, 2025.
Nissan reported Thursday a loss for the latest fiscal quarter as its vehicle sales sank while costs and inventory ballooned, prompting the Japanese automaker to slash 9,000 jobs. Chief Executive Makoto Uchida said he was taking a 50% pay cut to take responsibility for the dismal results while promising that a turnaround was coming. Nissan said it’s appointing a chief performance officer tasked with turnaround decision-making, who will begin his job next month.
Tennessee’s deer hunting season has been relatively quiet up to now. That’s because only hunters with bows and arrows have been in the woods. However, things will get louder on Saturday (Nov. 9) as the 2024 statewide muzzleloader season for deer opens and continues through Friday, Nov. 22, in all six of Tennessee’s deer hunting units. Deer hunters are still adjusting to new unit maps after the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency made revisions recently.
