A Stewart County man, who has reportedly spent most of his life behind bars, has been arrested once again and accused of kicking a Cheatham County deputy in the chest. Deputies reported that 26-year-old Kenneth Wayne Nelson of Stewart County was sitting on a bicycle and holding a dog leash outside the store. The Department of Corrections says Nelson served time for an aggravated burglary charge. However, he was granted parole in 2018, which was later revoked in 2019 because he absconded. Records show Nelson served the remainder of his sentence until his time expired in 2021.

A 33-year-old man was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Golf Club Lane and Memorial Drive around 7:20 Saturday night in Clarksville. 33-year-old Toby Moseler was taken to Tennova Healthcare and was pronounced dead a short time later. The crash was initially reported as involving two motorcycles but was later corrected to one motorcycle and a vehicle.

Today is election Day. A survey conducted for Forbes Health found that more than 60% of adults report feeling some level of anxiety, stress or even fear related to the 2024 election, all of which they say have taken a toll on their mental health. In a similar nationwide survey conducted before the 2020 presidential election, a much lower 40% of U.S. adults said politics was a prominent source of stress. The survey also found that women and younger adults feel that stress most acutely this time.

A traffic stop in Mt. Juliet led to the arrest of a man wanted for a child sex crime and a convicted felon who had four handguns, according to the Mt. Juliet Police Department (MJPD). Police said they stopped a vehicle for a signal violation on Sunday night and discovered a 40-year-old Nashville man with active warrants for two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a minor dating back to Oct. 4. Also in the car was a 60-year-old convicted felon from Murfreesboro in possession of four handguns, MJPD said. Police said that one of the handguns had been stolen in Humboldt, TN, in 2020.
