One of Hendersonville’s aldermen has worked to slow down speeding drivers in the city. A new speed limit ordinance called “Safe Neighborhoods” would only impact residential neighborhoods. There is a default speed limit where no signs are posted: 30 miles per hour. Hendersonville’s mayor and board of alderman approved the first reading of an ordinance to drop the default speed limit to 25 miles per hour. Those same leaders are scheduled to meet on October 22 to review the law again. If passed, the legislation would go into effect sometime between February and March 2025.

An investigation into a multi-year data breach of Marriott International, Inc.’s guest reservation databases on the Starwood computer network has resulted in a $52 million multistate lawsuit. Tennessee will receive $919,043.00 from the settlement. The Starwood computer network was hacked into undetected from July 2014 to September 2018, leading to a breach of 131.5 million guest records throughout the United States. The records breached included guest information, reservation information, and “a limited number of unencrypted passport numbers and unexpired payment card information. ” The settlement accuses Marriot of “violating state consumer protection laws and breach notification laws by failing to implement reasonable data security and remediate data security deficiencies.”
