Two Portland High School teachers are loading up on supplies to deliver to East Tennessee families impacted by Hurricane Helene. At PHS, Trey Pitt and Matthew Ellithorpe teach “Career and Technical Education” (CTE). The two men hope to gather a list of supplies to drop off to families impacted by the storm, to fill up Mr. Pitt’s cattle trailer. Pitt says the idea suddenly came to him this past weekend, which led him to enlist Ellithorpe and their students for help.

An Ashland City couple got a ride to the county jail after police said they detected the odor of drugs in the air while conducting a welfare check. According to the Ashland City Police Department, the incident unfolded on Sunday, Sept. 29 at approximately 8:15 a.m. after officers were sent to Haywood Hills Road to conduct a welfare check on two people. Authorities say the dead-end road is located near a creek and is known as an area where families often come to fish, but also a place where drug offenders come to do drugs. 24-year-old Britney Biggs and 26-year-old Jason Jones are charged with numerous crimes, including the possession of fentanyl, meth and heroin.

The Williamson County community is mourning the loss of the daughter of a retired fire chief. 24-year-old Jenna Addison, daughter of former Arrington Fire Chief Gene Craft, was killed as a result of a car crash on Wednesday, September 25th. Addison was born in Murfreesboro, graduated from Page High School, and served as a receptionist at the Williamson Medical Center emergency room, according to an obituary on the Williamson Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Services’ website.

Sumner County Sheriff’s deputies made a large drug bust after pulling over a vehicle for multiple traffic violations Sunday morning. A K9 unit was called to the scene and alerted officers to the presence of drugs. Upon searching the vehicle, deputies discovered multiple small bags of a white powdery substance and 130 counterfeit fentanyl pills.
