A pedestrian has been hospitalized after being struck by a Tennessee Highway Patrol cruiser in Springfield Sunday night. Bystanders called 911 just after the incident occurred near a train bridge just past Central Avenue, where the area is known to be “shadowy and dimly lit.” Robertson County EMS reports the pedestrian was taken to Skyline Medical Center in very critical condition. The trooper involved has been reassigned to administrative duties during the investigation.

Just weeks after a Putnam County high school was placed on lockdown, another student has been charged for allegedly making a threat against the school. The Putnam County Sheriff’s Department said the student was taken into custody after making a social media post stating that there was going to be a shooting at Cookeville High School and to not come to school. A student at Monterey High School reportedly saw the social media post and reported it to school officials. The Sheriff’s Department said the School Resources Officers (SROs) at Cookeville High School immediately apprehended the student believed to be responsible.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) Office of Outdoor Recreation has announced $2,609,375 in grants for eight Tennessee communities. One of the funded projects will be for Hendersonville cyclists to enjoy in Veterans Park. The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) has provided this funding to focus on Tennessee’s trails to expand access to outdoor recreation. Pump Track is also a bike-lover community in Hendersonville that’s made up of volunteers and community leaders who have helped create bikeways and greenways in the city.

The victim in a Clarksville shooting earlier this month has died, prompting authorities to arrest one person on homicide charges. The Clarksville Police Department said that the victim, 18-year-old Lebanon resident Carlos Wills, was taken off life support. An investigation identified Za’Kwon Jaterrion Holiday of Clarksville as the suspect. Clarksville authorities secured a homicide warrant for his arrest. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) assisted Clarksville police and Holliday was apprehended during a traffic stop in Nashville on Friday evening.
