Clarksville Police responded to a head-on crash involving a motorcycle Thursday evening. Authorities said that the crash happened at 6:35 p.m. on Peachers Mill Road at Allen Griffey Road and that the roadway was temporarily shut down. It has since been reopened. Investigators with the Fatal Accident Crash Team responded and are looking into the crash. The motorcyclist has been flown to Nashville by Life Flight helicopter and is listed in critical condition

The Cross Plains police and fire departments will again host their annual Community Safety Day tomorrow. Families and kids of all ages are invited to come out from 10 am to 2 pm at Kilgore Park to learn about bicycle safety, fire extinguisher safety, and weather safety. Parents and their children will have the chance to meet first responders and explore police cruisers, medical helicopters, fire trucks, and ambulances. At least three medical helicopters are planning to be at the event, with a commitment from TriStar Skyline Medical Center to display their new SkyLife specialized helicopter. Tennessee Highway Patrol will also be bringing a helicopter and feature a rollover simulator and driving simulator for visitors.

It’s a scam that’s been around for quite some time: callers claiming you never appeared for jury duty. However, scammers have gotten creative in Wilson County, using real names from the sheriff’s office and spoofing the non-emergency number 615-444-1412. The sheriff’s office has taken to social media several times warning about the scam. One of those posts from earlier this week explained how scammers are spoofing the non-emergency number; providing legitimate employee names and ranks from the sheriff’s office; threatening to arrest people for not paying legal fees or failing to report for jury duty; and instructing people to purchase gift cards, and share serial numbers to access the card amounts.
