An attempted traffic stop in Mt. Juliet led to a brief police pursuit Sunday afternoon, which resulted in the arrest of a convicted felon and the recovery of multiple guns in Lebanon. Officers said they had noticed a car being driven with one wheel on the rim and stopped it for suspicion of impaired driving. The driver — described by Mt, Juliet police only as a 39-year-old man from Nashville — initially complied, but he allegedly provided a false license before fleeing the scene.  The pursuit of a car from Mt. Juliet to Lebanon ended after a “minor-injury vehicle crash” in front of Publix on West Main Street. However, MJPD said no injuries were reported from the minor collision.

Two teens were injured on their way to the Wilson County Fair Saturday night.  The teens were driving on Bell Road near Woodland Pointe Drive when they claimed they saw a car driving erratically. They said their car and the suspect’s car passed each other a few times before shots were fired.  Two 17-year-old girls in the backseat were injured. One of the teens was hit in the shoulder and has non-critical injuries. The second teen was struck one time and sustained serious injuries.  The 18-year-old driver and the 17-year-old front passenger were not injured.

Soldiers, Airmen, and friends of the Tennessee Military Department gathered at Nashville’s Joint Force Headquarters on Aug. 16 to celebrate and honor the Tennessee National Guard’s 250th birthday.  The Tennessee National Guard’s origins trace back to before Tennessee became a state. In 1774, the Virginia frontier was under attack by Shawnee Indians, so Lord Dunmore, the Royal Governor of Virginia, ordered four regiments of militia and volunteers to organize and repel the attacks.
