A Liberty Elementary student was left behind on a Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) bus after all other students were dropped off on Tuesday morning. The student fell asleep on the drive to school and did not get out with the rest of his classmates. CMCSS has reportedly employed the bus driver for three years with no prior safety incidents. A representative for CMCSS said that the driver had been placed on an alternative work site, pending the outcome of an investigation by the district’s human resources department.

The City of Springfield could receive a much-needed boost in its efforts to build a new wastewater facility after loan requests totaling $47 million were recently submitted to a state loan program. The Springfield Board of Mayors and Alderman held a special meeting, where they approved two resolutions authorizing a portion of financing from the state of Tennessee’s Revolving Loan Fund, which will go towards the city’s wastewater facility project.

A local Midstate park will see new changes after the state approved $65,000 in funding. State Rep. Sabi Kumar announced Wednesday the grant award will go towards renovations at White House Municipal Park. Changes include a 20-spot parking lot for the dog park, renovation of the concession stand at the baseball/softball quad, and adding a shade structure with benches for the new tennis courts. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will manage the grants through the Local Parks and Recreation Fund.
