Authorities are investigating a Sunday evening shooting in front of a downtown Nashville parking garage that sent one person to the hospital. According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, the victim said the suspects were trying to rob him when he was shot in the leg and groin. The victim — identified as a 34-year-old — was reportedly brought to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 22-year-old man has been charged for his connection to a Saturday night crash that left two women dead and another person injured on Gallatin Pike. Officials said a preliminary investigation indicates that 22-year-old Giovanni Bolstad was traveling in a Jeep Cherokee on Cude Lane out of Rivergate Mall when he ran a red flashing light and crashed into a Ford Focus on Gallatin Pike. Bolstad was charged with two counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular assault, and driving on a revoked license. According to booking records, he is being held in Metro Jail on a $332,500 bond.

In addition to numerous posts extending thoughts and prayers to Weatherford’s family and colleagues as they grieve, hundreds of law enforcement partners helped escort Weatherford home from Pigeon Forge Friday evening.
A Middle Tennessee man is the latest person charged concerning the U.S. Capitol breach on January 6th, 2021. The FBI arrested 41-year-old Nicholas Waldon Smotherman, of Mt. Juliet, on Friday in Nashville for allegedly assaulting law enforcement and other charges related to his conduct during the Capitol breach, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Tennessee. Smotherman allegedly pushed a Metropolitan Police Department officer as rioters pulled on bike rack barricades and attempted to take an officer’s baton away as they tried to make the crowd back.
