The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office says a 6-year-old boy is dead following an accident with a firearm Sunday morning in Fairfield.  An investigation by Deputies and Detectives determined that the shooting was purely accidental.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is releasing its annual Crime in Tennessee report for last year.  The TBI says the sharp decline in crime in 2020 was “undeniably impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”  The report  shows a five-percent decrease from the previous year in group-A offenses like rapes and murders.  It also showed a seven-percent decrease in the number of DUIs from 2019.

A Montgomery County Deputy is said to be in stable condition after being hit by a car.  Police say the accident happened early Sunday morning while directing traffic on Highway 149.  At the time, Department of Transportation crews were clearing debris from the road.  An oncoming car driven by 21-year-old Noah Smith crossed a lane of traffic, drove over the median and hit the deputy.’

Tax revenues are going up in Tennessee.  A recent report released by the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration shows tax revenues grew nearly 21-percent in June compared to a year ago.  The department says revenues for last month were one-point-nine-billion dollars which is over 370-million more than estimated.  It is 320-million-dollars more than in June of last year.
