A 16-year-old is dead after he drowned in a pond in White House. The teen was operating a mower at his grandfather’s property when the equipment slid into a pond and pinned the boy under the water, according to Robertson County Emergency Medical Services. His family found him in the water after an unknown amount of time. Family members and emergency personnel worked to rescue and resuscitate the teen, but he did not survive. The teen’s identity was not released.

White House could soon have its first free-standing emergency room. In partnership with Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital, Highpoint Health in Gallatin is working to bring a 24/7 emergency room to the steadily growing community. The proposed ER would have six rooms, an on-site lab, plus the ability to conduct X-ray and CT imaging. It would be built roughly half a mile off Interstate 65 on North Sage Road. That location would allow for easy access from other nearby communities. White House Mayor John Corbitt saw the proposed emergency room as another sign of progress in their once-isolated town.

A Midstate teen accused of attempted murder didn’t show up to his court date last week. Clarksville Police say 18-year-old Kwamey Sykes failed to appear at the Montgomery County Circuit Court on Friday. The suspect is missing, and authorities are asking for the public’s help locating him. Sykes has been charged with especially aggravated Robbery, attempted first-degree murder, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony. These charges are all related to the shooting of a 15-year-old back in July 2023. Sykes was 17 then but has since been transferred to adult status. A warrant was issued for his arrest and his new bond has been set at $200,000.
