More things to do in Robertson County: there is a now full 18-hole public disc golf course at Travis Price Park. Disc golf is similar to golf. Players throw the disc to get closer to the basket and tally how many attempts it takes to reach each hole. The objective is to complete the course in as few throws or shots as possible. Anyone can pick up a disc and go play during park hours from dawn till dusk.

As part of the 2021-22 fiscal year county budget, the Robertson County Historical Society will get $5,000. That will go towards the Robertson County History Museum in the old U.S. Federal Post Office Building in downtown Springfield.  The museum’s archival materials include documents, records, journals and other historical materials that date all the way back to before Robertson County was founded.

Former Vice President Al Gore is pushing for more COVID-19 vaccinations in Tennessee.  During a Celebration of Life ceremony for former Rep. John Lewis in Nashville on Saturday, Gore said more people need to be vaccinated in Tennessee, including teenagers.  Gore said that with the death rate from COVID among Black Americans being three times higher, he called it “racist not to vaccinate people.”  The speech was made on the one-year anniversary of the late Civil Rights leader’s death.

That cruise ship that spent over a week stuck on a sandbar in a southern Kentucky lake is free.  The U.S. Coast Guard used a tug assist and a barge to free the American Jazz on Friday.  The riverboat had been stuck on Lake Barkley since July 7th.  It was on its way to Nashville from Memphis when it got stuck.

A man is dead after a barricade situation in Clarksville. 30-year-old Kantrell Head was involved in a domestic situation barricaded himself inside a home on Cranklen Circle at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday when Clarksville police officers responded. They say they spent a lengthy amount of time attempting to get him to come out peacefully. Officers discovered head died from suicide a death investigation in underway.
