The Hendersonville Police Department is investigating after human remains were found near State Route 386 Wednesday afternoon. Police said a subcontract worker with the Tennessee Department of Transportation was picking up trash along the roadway when they discovered the remains in a small wood line Vietnam Veterans Boulevard by New Shackle Island Road. The remains are those of a white woman with brown hair, about four feet, nine inches tall, and weighed about 105 pounds. The victim’s identity and cause of death are still under investigation and pending an autopsy report.

The Gallatin Police Department has launched a new boat team, just in time for a busy Fourth of July weekend. The patrol squad – six officers in total at the moment – will monitor a small, busy stretch of Old Hickory Lake, starting from ramps at either Bull Creek or Station Camp Creek. From reminding people of the rules on the water to issuing BUIs to helping those in need, the team will maintain an active presence on Old Hickory Lake through the rest of the summer, but more than anything, they just want to make their presence known.

A man was taken into custody Tuesday night after reportedly leading Sumner County authorities on a pursuit, which included a “dramatic rooftop escape attempt.” A Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, deputy tried to pull over Dan Brewster Jr. for multiple traffic violations along W. Main Street on Tuesday, but Brewster sped away. Officials said Brewster’s white Toyota Camry was found abandoned near Old Shackle Road. Then, Brewster was spotted. Police were in pursuit when Brewster made his rooftop escape attempt by climbing up an air unit and leaping into a tree, which resulted in injuries. Brewster is being held at the Sumner County Jail for multiple charges, including drug-related offenses.
