The Wilson County School District unanimously approved security film for their schools on Monday. Last July, the state passed a bill requiring new school buildings, or those being remodeled, to include this protective window film. Wilson County joins a growing list of Tennessee school districts that are approving these security films with prospective bidders. In their case, the school board agreed to hire Osteen Construction in Chattanooga to install 3M, shatter-resistant glass films across their 24 brick-and-mortar campuses.

Who Doesn’t Love Dolly Parton says she will partner with ATG Productions on a new musical inspired by her life and trailblazing career titled “Hello, I’m Dolly” to Broadway in 2026. The new musical borrows its title from the name of Parton’s first studio album released in 1967. “Hello, I’m Dolly” will feature a score by Parton that will include some of her biggest hits as well as new songs she has written for the musical.

Today and tomorrow, barbecue enthusiasts from across the state will make their way to Springfield for the sixth annual Barbecue Throwdown competition, hosted by the Robertson County Fair Association. Despite a year off in 2020, the Robertson County Fairgrounds have been home to the competition since its creation in 2018 as a way to attract more tourism into the area. Springfield residents are beginning to see those stubborn potholes and rough patches in roads being smoothed over. The City of Springfield’s paving and street maintenance project involves the paving of various streets throughout the city and specific work on railroad crossings. Residents should expect traffic delays and one-lane closures at multiple locations over the next three weeks. Streets scheduled for paving include Blackpatch Drive, New Chapel Road, North Main Street at Memorial Boulevard, and Douglas Street.
