Gallatin city leaders are in shock following the sudden resignation of one council member over bullying claims. Councilwoman Eileen George unexpectedly resigned at Tuesday night’s meeting. She claims fellow councilman Pascal Jouvence bullied her. He says those claims are bogus.
The Springfield Parks & Recreation Department announced the return of Free Movie Fridays. These free, family-friendly movie nights will occur at 6 p.m. on the third Friday of each month from June through September at Martin Luther King Jr. Park. The first movie of the season will be on Friday, June 21 with a showing of “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.”
A Kentucky high school band director died Tuesday in a car crash. Kentucky State Police say 28-year-old Kelsey Dunn was pronounced dead at the scene after losing control of her vehicle on the Western Kentucky Parkway at the 116 Mile Marker between the Clarkson and Eastview exits. Investigators say Dunn crossed the median and entered the path of a westbound tractor-trailer due to heavy rainfall. The truck driver was unharmed. Dunn was an Elkton native who graduated from Todd County Central High School.
From June 7-8, barbecue enthusiasts from across the state will make their way to Springfield for the sixth annual Barbecue Throwdown competition, hosted by the Robertson County Fair Association. Despite a year off in 2020, the Robertson County Fairgrounds have been home to the competition since its creation in 2018 as a way to attract more tourism into the area. Gas prices across the state have now declined for the fourth straight week. Over the last week, gas prices fell nine cents, on average. The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $3.08 which is 25 cents less expensive than one month ago and 11 cents less than one year ago. Today’s national average is $3.53, thirteen cents less than a month ago and two cents less than a year ago.
