Police in Springfield  are asking area residents to be on the lookout for 21-year-old Jacob Patton.  He is a suspect in a  July 9th burglary and theft incident on Kirby Street in Springfield. Patton is known to frequent the Sumner County area. His picture is posted on the Springfield police and some news websites. Call Springfield police if you think you’ve seen Patton.

There are 580 new coronavirus cases in Tennessee.  That brings the total since the outbreak began to 871-thousand-550.  An additional eight COVID-19-related deaths were also reported, bring the death count to 12-thousand-600.  280 COVID patients are hospitalized in Tennessee.

A U.S. Army soldier who was absent without leave when he allegedly claimed to be a law enforcement officer is being indicted.  Jaidan Higueros was missing from Fort Campbell when he allegedly carried a gun onto a flight from Chicago to Nashville earlier this year, saying he was a law enforcement officer transporting evidence to the FBI.  Paperwork filed on Monday shows Higueros has been indicted on charges of carrying a weapon or explosive on an aircraft and false personation, officer or employee of the United States.  Higueros was arrested on February 15th when the United Airlines flight from Chicago to Nashville International Airport landed.

An Austin Peay State University baseball player is being taken in the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.  APSU center fielder Garrett Spain was picked by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round yesterday.  Spain is the 44th player in program history to be taken in the MLB draft.  He hit .330 with a team-high nine home runs, 43 runs batted in and 14 stolen bases in 2021.

Maintenance crews at Clarksville’s Liberty Park say there 250 geese making the park a permanent home. Officias say that’s too many so Parks and Recreation has placed decoys of coyotes, foxes, and alligators in the park to get some of the geese to go for good. The Department says it will continue to relocate the decoys to prevent the birds from getting too comfortable.
