Gas prices in the Volunteer State are on the decline. Triple-A reports the average cost of a gallon of regular gas yesterday was four dollars and 10 cents. That’s down from last week’s average of four-30. Additionally, Tennessee is, on average, seeing cheaper gas than most of the nation. The nationwide average is about four-52.
Authorities in middle Tennessee say thieves are stealing people’s money by using home rental scams. So far this year, almost two dozen people have become victims. Detectives say scammers usually use Craiglist and steal information from real listings.
Robertson Countians should check the refrigerator. Sweet Loren’s sugar cookie dough is being recalled over possible allergy complications. The New York-based brand says some 12-ounce packages of the product are labelled as gluten-free, but may contain traces of the protein. The cookie dough was sold in 26 states, including Tennessee, with a printed ‘Best By’ date of December first. Individuals are urged to return the product to the purchase location to receive a full refund.
The Tennessee Highway Safety Office is conducting ‘Operation Southern Slowdown.’ The Volunteer State is joining four others to increase speeding enforcement through July 24th. Police agencies will target speeders on interstates and state routes in an effort to reduce accidents. The Safety Office reports a substantial increase in speeding over one-hundred miles-per-hour in the last two years.
A stolen food truck out of Nashville led investigators in Clarksville to the discovery of other stolen vehicles. The owner of “Sugaboats” has a tracker hidden on her food trailer. Shilon Calbert usd an app to find the truck in Clarksville and met police at the location. There they found several other food trucks and at least one RV, which, like her food truck, investigators told her the other vehicles were stolen. It’s unclear what charges are pending and against whom they will be leveled as the investigation continues
