Early voting for the August primaries starts tomorrow.   The primaries are to select party candidates for Governor, U.S. House of Representatives, the state house and the state senate (from odd numbered districts) and party committeemen and committeewomen.  Early voting ends July 30th and the primary elections are held on August 4th.  General elections are in November.

Beware of what you feed your dog. Stormberg Foods is recalling a list of dog treats over possible salmonella contamination.  The company says chicken treats with brand names Beg & Barker, Billo’s Best Friend, and Green Coast Pets could potentially sicken animals.  All of the affected products have printed expiration dates between June sixth and 23rd.  The company says the treats were sold nationwide, with more information available at F-D-A-dot-gov.

Tennessee State Senator Kerry Roberts of Springfield recently announced the recipients of the 2022-23 Tennessee Arts Commission Grant for local arts organizations.  Up to five different organizations, all from Senate District 25, were awarded the grants. Among them included Willow Oak Center for Arts & Learning in Springfield, which received almost $6,800. The Tennessee Arts Commission will give out up to 20 different kinds of grants throughout the year.

Several people have been indicted for harboring undocumented workers at Middle Tennessee restaurants. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says four people were charged after they were found to employ the workers at Asian restaurants in Hendersonville, Goodlettsville, Whitehouse, Clarksville, Mount Juliet, Spring Hill and Gallatin. Authorities say the employers also falsified tax statements and provided understated wages on tax forms in regards to the undocumented workers. All four could face up to 20 years in prison.
