An Independence Day celebration is planned in Clarksville on July third.  The event kicks off at 5:00 p.m. at Liberty Park.  Live music, food, and games are part of the fun, with fireworks planned for 9:30 p.m.  The city is also hosting a free concert featuring Heart tribute band, Barracuda, on Friday evening at the Downtown Commons.

The Robertson County Commission recently approved a new five-year lease with the State of Tennessee for the Tennessee College of Applied Technology.  The Commission also found that the building would need electrical upgrades in order to support the kind of equipment that is being installed for the advanced manufacturing program. The economic development board recently approved a contract with a local contractor, Edwards Roofing and Allen Yates, to upgrade the electrical for $18,000.

Authorities say the suspect accused of shooting a Hendersonville officer Monday night is dead.  Kentucky State Police located 34-year-old Samuel Edwards near Louisville yesterday evening, and became involved in a shootout with him following a pursuit.  The injured Hendersonville officer has been treated for non-critical injuries at Vanderbilt Medical Center and released.

You have one week to register to vote in Tennessee.  July 5th is the deadline to cast a ballot in the August 4th federal primary election and the state and county general election.  Registration can be done online or by mail.  Early voting for the election begins on July 15th.
