Tennessee has opened a new hotline for potholes. Drivers statewide can now report potholes and other road maintenance issues to the Department of Transportation by calling 1-833-TDOTFIX (836-8349). Callers will be asked to provide as much information as possible about the issue. The call center will be open Monday through Friday from 6:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.
Members of Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation should expect higher energy bills this summer as a result of extreme summer temperatures, coupled with an increase in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Fuel Cost Adjustment. Warmer outdoor temperatures require home cooling systems to operate longer to maintain comfortable indoor temperatures, even if thermostat settings are unchanged.
State House Republicans are asking the Governor to stop health officials from administering COVID-19 vaccines to children under five. A group including House Speaker Cameron Sexton has signed a request asking Governor Bill Lee to block the Tennessee Department of Health from giving out, promoting or recommending vaccines for young children until there’s more clinical evidence. State Representative Jason Zachary says young children have never been at serious risk of death or hospitalization from COVID. The Knoxville Republican says it’s important to know more about any potential short-term and long-term effects of the vaccines on children.
Vehicle registrations for many Tennesseans are about to be at no charge for a whole year. Governor Bill Lee signed the fee moratorium measure SB 2491 into state law in early June. The registration fee waiver program kicks-in July 1st. The program covers all non commercial vehicle registrations for cars, trucks, motorcycles, motorhomes and rvs except for fully electric vehicles. Those registrations which normally expire anytime after July 1st through June 30, 2023 are eligible for the special fee waiver program.
Thousands of racing fans are expected to fill the stands at Nashville Superspeedway for NASCAR’s Ally 400 Cup Series. The main event is Sunday, June 26 at 4:00-p.m. Central time following a day of truck racing on Friday and an Xfinity series race on Saturday.
