At least one person is dead after a multi-vehicle crash in Clarksville on Thursday. Police say it happened in front of a restaurant on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard, but details of the wreck are not known at this time. Several injuries are being reported. The victim has not been identified.

Metro police say a Wilson County man is dead after a standoff in Nashville yesterday.  According to investigators, twenty-five-year-old Calvin Courter barricaded himself inside an Annex Avenue home.  The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office informed local law enforcement that he may be at the property, tracking him there on outstanding domestic kidnapping and assault warrants.  Authorities say it appears Courter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The National Museum of African American Music is hosting a community event in honor of Black Music Month.  The gathering is planned from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. Live performances from local artists are a part of the occasion.  The museum is also marking its one-year anniversary with the debut of the new ‘Rhythm of the Nation’ exhibit.

The Oak Ridge Boys will headline at the City of Springfield’s Freedom Fest, slated for July 3 at the Robertson County Fairgrounds.  Gates will open at 3 p.m. for the free event, featuring carnival rides, inflatables for the kids, plus around 20 vendors, as well as food options.  Live music, sponsored by Grace Baptist Church, will kick off soon after the gates open — with opening acts the High Road, a Grammy award-nominated gospel group, and local artists Stephen Hogan, the Wyatt Wood Band, Justin Tucker, and the Devon Williams Band.

A monument honoring U.S. Colored Troops who served in the Civil War will be unveiled at a free event in Clarksville tomorrow at the Mt. Olive Cemetery Historical Preservation Society.  The dedication starts at 9 a.m. at Fort Defiance Civil War Park.  Over 20 thousand black soldiers served in the Union Army with three thousand more active members of Tennessee’s Home Guards militia.
