The #NoFilter Girls Summit will be returning to White House.  The Summit is a day full of activities for girls entering grades five through nine in the fall of 2022. It’s designed to focus on improving self-esteem and body image issues for young girls in an age of social media.  Registration for this year’s event is now open, which will take place on Friday, June 17 from 8 a.m. – to 3 p.m. at H.B. Williams Elementary School.

The Hendersonville Fire Marshal says a blasting company’s permit was not up to date before an explosion on Monday.  Yesterday, Fire Marshal Paul Varble said since there was no active permit, no on-site inspection was conducted before the H & H Construction blasting took place.  He said it’s pure luck no one was hurt after the controlled construction blast sent rocks as large as 20-pounds flying into nearby residential neighborhoods in Hendersonville.  Varble says H & H has to present a viable corrective plan before doing any blasting in the future.

A house gets hit by lightning during last night’s storms in Wilson County.  The National Weather Service says severe thunderstorms in the area produced plenty of energy across Middle Tennessee.  A house on Osborne Road in Watertown was hit by lightning a little after 8:00-p.m. last night. Fire crews say the lightning hit some wiring in a staircase wall which ignited insulation.  The damages were minimal and luckily everyone inside the house got out safely.

There is no license required to go fishing around the state this Saturday.  The state’s Wildlife Resources Agency says Saturday, June 11th is the 2022 Free Fishing Day for everyone.  TWRA officials say the idea is to foster greater public interest in angling.  In the case of kids 15 and under, the freebie is extended from June 11th through June 17th.  Find out all the details at TNWildlife-dot-Org.
