Governor Bill Lee signs a school safety executive order.  Monday’s executive order calls for school districts to reevaluate and update school safety plans. The governor says the executive order strengthens accountability and transparency around existing school safety planning.  Active shooter training for law enforcement is also to be reevaluated under the executive order. The order has no weapons restrictions.  In his statement, the Governor said,  “No one knows the root causes of this violence. There isn’t a clear answer.”

The soaring price of gasoline is expected to go up some more across the state this week.  Megan Cooper with Triple-A said as of yesterday the average price around the state hit four-50-a a gallon which is up 50-cents from a month ago.  Cooper also said the price at the gas pump is expected to rise again this week due to unresolved volatility in the oil and gas markets worldwide.  The highest prices yesterday were in Morristown, Clarksville, and Knoxville at over four-50 a gallon while Chattanooga, Cleveland, and Kingsport registered the lowest prices just under or at four-50 yesterday in Tennessee.

A developer is in the planning stages of a mixed-use property at the former Macy’s store at Rivergate Mall in Goodlettsville.  More than four-hundred-50 multifamily residential units are a part of current discussions.  City leaders must approve rezoning requests before the project can move ahead.  The property is expected to be discussed at a planning commission meeting next month.

There is no license required to go fishing around the state this Saturday.  The state’s Wildlife Resources Agency says Saturday, June 11th is the 2022 Free Fishing Day for everyone.  TWRA officials say the idea is to foster greater public interest in angling.  In the case of kids 15 and under, the freebie is extended from June 11th through June 17th.  Find out all the details at TNWildlife-dot-Org.
