Remote Area Medical, a major nonprofit provider of pop-up clinics offering medical care to those in need, is looking for volunteer medical, dental, and vision professionals for its Aug. 13 clinic.  The one-day clinic is to be held at The Center, located on Main Street in Springfield. They are also in need of general support volunteers to help set up and takedown. Interpreters can also volunteer to aid patients through the processes.  This clinic is in collaboration with the Robertson County Baptist Association

Arson investigators in Clarksville say a person of interest is now in custody in connection with two fires last week. Authorities in Pensacola, Florida arrested 23-year-old Craig Barbour Junior on Sunday.  He is wanted for questioning in fires reported last Friday at properties along Lafayette Road and Bevard Road.  Florida police say they are conducting a mental evaluation on Barbour.

Happy 226th  Anniversary.  Tennessee became America’s 16th state on June 1st, 1796, and statehood celebrations are happening around Tennessee this week.  In Nashville, free celebrations are offered today and Saturday at the State Library and Archives, the Tennessee State Museum, and Bicentennial Mall State Park. The public can view historical documents, reenactments, tours, music, games, and more. 

There is a new state law that regulates unlicensed nursing homes.  Governor Bill Lee signed HB630-SB439 yesterday.  The law calls for the creation of a registry for unlicensed adult care businesses and increases the penalty for operating such a business without a license.  Since January 2021, the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability says around a hundred unlicensed adult care businesses have been identified.

Authorities in Clarksville say a motorcyclist is seriously injured in a Monday night accident on College Street.  The motorcycle rider was transported by medical helicopter to a Nashville hospital.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.
