The Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting a driver license roadside safety checkpoint on May 27th, on US Highway 31W at Red River Bridge in Sumner and Robertson counties.  The checkpoint will operate from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. andill concentrate their efforts on vehicles being operated by drivers who violate the driver license laws.

The Southern Baptist Convention failed to adequately respond to allegations of sexual abuse.  That’s the conclusion of a report from the Guidepost Solutions investigation which was commissioned last year by the denomination’s executive committee.  The report finds that abuse survivors were met with “resistance, stonewalling, and even outright hostility” by church leaders for over two decades. The SBC leaders will meet May 24th to address the report’s findings.

The City of Springfield’s Freedom Fest, presented by Grace Baptist Church, will take place on Sunday, July 3rd at the Robertson County Fairgrounds. This family-friendly event is free and the fairgrounds will open at 3 p.m. with music beginning at 3:45 p.m. Seating will be available inside the arena. You’re welcome to bring chairs and blankets.  The free concert will include performances by Grammy-nominated gospel band High Road, local artists, and the The Oak Ridge Boys.  The evening will conclude with the city’s largest fireworks display beginning at 9:00 p.m.  Free parking is available at the fairgrounds, Legion Park, and J. Travis Price Park.
