Cheatham County authorities say a teen has drowned after an accident Saturday.  Witnesses say the 17-year-old jumped from a bridge while swimming with friends near Sycamore Creek Recreation Area.  Investigators say his body was recovered about an hour after the incident was reported.  The identity of the victim has not been released.

If you are doing any traveling the weekend, here’s a heads up: the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting roadside safety checkpoints Friday in Hickman County on State Route 46 at the Hickman Dickson County line and Lincoln County on Highway 231 at the 20.8 mile marker.

The City of Springfield’s Freedom Fest, presented by Grace Baptist Church, will take place on Sunday, July 3rd at the Robertson County Fairgrounds. This family-friendly event is free and the fairgrounds will open at 3 p.m. with music beginning at 3:45 p.m. Seating will be available inside the arena. You’re welcome to bring chairs and blankets.  The free concert will include performances by Grammy-nominated gospel band High Road, local artists, and the The Oak Ridge Boys.  The evening will conclude with the city’s largest fireworks display beginning at 9:00 p.m.  Free parking is available at the fairgrounds, Legion Park, and J. Travis Price Park.
