Tennessee is reporting a record low unemployment rate.  The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate last month was just over three percent.  That’s the lowest unemployment rate since the state began keeping track in the 1970s.  Tennessee recorded its highest unemployment rate ever during the height of the COVID-19 outbreak at nearly 16 percent.

Republican Tennessee Attorney General Herbert Slatery is joining a federal lawsuit against the Biden Administration to stop an immigration policy from ending.  The policy allows the U.S. to turn away nearly all illegal immigrants at the border or deport them without an asylum case being heard.  The policy was put in place in March of 2020 to slow the spread of COVID-19.  Nearly two dozen attorneys general from other states is part of the lawsuit to prevent the policy from expiring late next month. 

The Springfield Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office to promote “Slow Down Tennessee.” Through April 29th, the Springfield Police Department will increase education, awareness, and enforcement efforts to help reduce speeding-related crashes, injuries, and fatalities statewide.

Officials with the Tennessee Department of Transportation are suspending interstate construction for the upcoming Easter holiday.  The move is due to increased travel over the weekend.  Road work that requires lane closures will stop at 6:00 p.m. tonight and resume at 6:00 Monday Morning.

A new study from grocery delivery service Instacart is listing the most popular Easter candies purchased around the nation.  Instacart released a list of the top ten Easter candies purchased in the country and the number one treats favored in each state.  Cadbury Crème Eggs came in number one overall in the U.S.  Instacart says America’s top ten candies are Cadbury Crème Eggs, Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, jellybeans, mini chocolate eggs, Hershey’s Kisses, M&Ms, Lindt’s milk chocolate bunny, Brach’s Jelly Bird Eggs, Peeps marshmallow chicks, and Hershey’s chocolate candy eggs.
